The Heart of My Writing Journey: Discovering Authenticity

Chapter 1: The Art of Writing from the Heart
Crafting words into a compelling narrative is indeed an artistic endeavor. It's about inspiring others while creating something meaningful. The ability to read a story filled with depth and layers is a true blessing.
I've encountered numerous writers on Medium who have mastered this craft with grace. When I engage with those who pour their hearts into their work, filled with significance and genuineness, I find myself captivated. Writers like Megan Llorente, Art Bram, Jen Wilking, and The Sober Vegan Yogi share their personal experiences, and I feel privileged to read their articles. My admiration for their openness is profound; they beautifully convey their journeys of overcoming challenges and personal growth. Their stories often move me to tears, and I aspire to reach such an inspiring level of expression through my writing.
My Writing Journey: A Personal Reflection
Some may suggest that I shouldn’t be too critical of myself—that progress will come. I appreciate the encouragement, but I assure you, I’m not being overly harsh. I recognize the importance of my current stage in writing and see it as part of my growth, especially when I reflect on how far I’ve traveled. However, I know I’m still only scratching the surface of my potential, often writing merely for the sake of writing.
The first video, "My Writing Journey | The experiences that led me to writing a book," details the transformative experiences that have shaped my writing path.
Why Do I Feel So Surface-Level?
The truth is, I’m genuinely frightened! Approaching 43, I find myself uncertain about my identity—or perhaps I do know who I am, but I simply haven’t fully realized it. My inner critic, whom I’ve dubbed Linda, fills my mind with doubts. I worry about the implications of my words and how they will be perceived. Letting go seems daunting, and I fear I may never uncover profound meaning in my life if I can't release my fears.
This fear is particularly painful to confront.
Our words hold incredible power, and I understand this deeply. I recently penned an article highlighting this truth.
The second video, "How I Became A Writer | My Writing Journey," explores the pivotal moments that shaped my writing identity.
You Deserve More Than Your Current Narrative
I am aware that I also deserve better. There are days when I feel like a mere observer in my life, and that’s acceptable; it’s part of my current process. This feeling is reflected in my writing—a surface-level outlook.
Have you ever experienced this sensation? How did you push through it?
Finding Meaning in My Words
Currently, I seek to uncover deeper meaning in my writing. I aspire to be vulnerable, to connect with readers, and to share my experiences. Even while crafting this piece, I grapple with an internal conflict: my inner critic versus my authentic self.
My aspiration is to evolve into a writer who communicates from the heart and soul, creating pieces born of love that may inspire or aid others. I want to dismantle my defenses and unleash the words, emotions, and depth that reside within me. Surrendering to this process is essential.
Brené Brown wisely stated, “Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness; it’s our greatest measure of courage.” This resonates with me as I navigate my current state—learning to embrace vulnerability without succumbing to self-criticism.
Reading the journeys of others fuels my hope that one day I will find the courage to write freely, without fear of judgment.
Key Message: Seek out writers whose heartfelt expressions inspire you to uncover your true self, filling your spirit with hope and love.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
