Who Are You When You Shine the Brightest?

Chapter 1: Discovering Your True Self
Have you ever taken a moment to reflect on your core values?
As I browsed through LinkedIn this morning, the numerous graduation announcements and the inspiring tales of graduates brought a smile to my face. It’s uplifting to witness so many individuals pursuing and fulfilling their aspirations 🎓. Yet, this prompts an important question: who are you when you shine the brightest?
In the pursuit of your academic and professional achievements, what drives you? Is it the allure of a more prestigious job, a heftier salary, or perhaps the satisfaction of overcoming a challenge? Have you paused to contemplate your virtues?
You might be striving to become a better individual. Maybe your journey is about nurturing courage or mastering self-discipline. Could love be the motivating force that propels you to improve, step by step? Certainly, accumulating wisdom is a common goal—who wouldn’t desire that?
When our ethical standards appear to decline and our identities seem overshadowed by our actions or words, could it be that we are chasing after the wrong aspirations?
Seeing a photo of a little girl capturing her father’s graduation moment made me ponder what he feels. Is his pride rooted in the degree itself, or in the legacy he is creating for his child? And what thoughts might she harbor? "That’s my daddy, my hero!"
Who are you at your peak? Are you brave, optimistic, thankful, compassionate, inquisitive, or filled with enthusiasm?
Every time I unlock my phone, I am reminded of the person I aim to embody. Here are the virtues that guide my life and their significance to me.
My iPhone home screen serves as a daily reminder of my commitment to being the best version of myself in areas that truly matter. Although I may stumble at times, I view these moments as opportunities for reflection and growth. My virtues serve as my compass. To excel, I simply adhere to my principles, put in the effort, and adjust as necessary.
So, who am I at my best? A loving and nurturing father, a supportive friend, a dedicated colleague, and a passionate enthusiast of life. Each day, I strive to understand the game I am playing and to play it well.
Here’s to you becoming your best self, regardless of the challenges that arise.
