In my past, I often found myself overwhelmed by anxiety, consumed by worries over aspects of life that were entirely beyond my control. Issues like global events seemed absurd to fret about, yet they weighed heavily on my mind. Concerns about personal matters such as finances, career, and progress only added to my distress. This constant cycle of anxiety stemmed from one missing element—spiritual alignment. I had yet to connect deeply with my true self, which invariably led to persistent anxiety.

I resonate with the phrase, "Man is the master of his own fate," because it embodies a profound truth. When one understands their inner world—their strengths, weaknesses, and purpose—it's much easier to influence their surroundings. Misalignment manifests as a disconnect between one's inner self and outer circumstances.

Many of us are conditioned to adopt beliefs and behaviors imposed by family, friends, and society. This can lead to pursuing careers and goals that feel hollow and unfulfilling, as they don't reflect our true selves.

In my upbringing, sensitivity and emotional depth were often dismissed within my family, steeped in trauma. To avoid triggering negative responses from my caregivers, I suppressed aspects of my identity that were misunderstood. In doing so, I unintentionally adopted their emotional struggles, sacrificing my true self for the sake of harmony.

Upon reflection, I recognized how much of my decision-making had been influenced by others, which paved the way for a more authentic existence. This realization made it easier to assert my will.

Experiencing anxiety due to spiritual misalignment is a profound struggle. While anxiety before an exam is commonplace, the anxiety stemming from deeper issues is a different challenge altogether. This type of unease arises from hidden layers of oneself that remain unexamined, making preparation for such feelings nearly impossible.

The motivations behind people's actions are often obscured by their subconscious mind. Confronting these underlying reasons can be daunting, as they lie buried beneath the surface. For instance, someone exhibiting road rage may be reacting to feelings of helplessness in their life, using anger as a coping mechanism rather than acknowledging their true emotions.

To face these deeper truths comes at a cost—sacrificing the comforting illusions we create to avoid confronting our realities. Yet, doing so empowers us to discover our genuine desires and needs, revealing the ways we have previously sought fulfillment.

The sooner we confront these truths, the better equipped we become.

Chapter 2: The Path to Self-Mastery

The degree of self-mastery one achieves directly influences the level of anxiety experienced. Although this journey is ongoing, advancing on the path of self-mastery enhances our spiritual alignment.

Understanding the reasons behind our thoughts and actions fosters conscious creation. Mindfulness isn't merely the absence of thoughts; it's about choosing thoughts intentionally, free from anxiety.

Reflecting on my youthful attachment to global issues, I now recognize the underlying motivation: a desire to contribute positively. By ascending the ladder of self-mastery and aligning my inner reality with the outer world, I am empowered to create with intention. Mindful thinking enables me to pursue goals that resonate with my true self, leading to a reduction in anxiety.

Ultimately, the objective is to achieve inner harmony. By cultivating self-love, we can extend that love to others and the world around us.
